KEB Hanabank tabs Kayla Thornton, ex Cangrejeras

Kayla Thornton

KEB Hanabank Bucheon (WKBL) inked 24-year old American forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP). She played in the summer at Cangrejeras in Puerto Rican BSNF. In 25 games she averaged impressive 23.3ppg, 12.4rpg, 3.1apg and 1.1bpg. The last season Thornton played at Bnot Maccabi Ramat Gan in Israeli D1 where in 29 games she had very remarkable stats: 16.7ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.1apg and 1.9spg. She helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. They also played in the Cup final. A very good season in her career as she was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Israeli League Honorable Mention.
Among other achievements Thornton's college team won C-USA Tournament in 2012. She received also Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSNF Import Player of the Year award in 2014.
Thornton has played previously professionally also in WNBA (Washington Mystics).
She attended Univ.of Texas at El Paso until 2014 and it will be her third season in pro basketball.
